Plan your day – Plan your life

Lately, I have found myself darting from one task to the next, sometimes completing very few and ending the day in a state of frustration.  Thankfully I recently found myself listening to a recording in which Brian Tracy addressed setting goals and the importance of each day doing at least three things that bring me closer to my goals.

I had one of those “aha” moments.

It makes sense, doesn’t it?  If we don’t know what we want to accomplish, we will do just about anything that pops up in front of us in the form of an e-mail, a fax, a telephone call or an in person request.   By doing so, we are allowing others to dictate to us what is important.  Instead, let’s plan our day ahead of time (preferably at the end of the previous day) and identify the three most important things that we need to do and do them before anything else in order to be more productive.

Apply this strategy also to your life goals.  What three important goals do you have for your life?  Are they S M A R T goals?  Are they specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timed for achievement?   Then each day, do three times which will take you closer to your goals.
