Celebrate every day

Why do we wait for special days to celebrate?

Recently on my birthday I got asked by many of my friends how I was going to celebrate this day.  Well, birthdays are pretty special and it’s the day when you reflect on life and how grateful you are for your blessings.  It’s also a day on which (at my age anyway) when we think “oh my gosh, there is so little time to accomplish everything I want in this life time.”

“Now hold on a minute” I tell myself.  I didn’t just get old overnight on this one day.  It was all the 364 days before today that have led up to this one day when I reluctantly admit that I am a year older.  So, instead of waiting for this one day every year to celebrate, resolve to celebrate life each and every day.

In the same manner, we should not wait for the one day of the year to celebrate our Mothers or our Fathers.  Be grateful every day for your Mom and your Dad and thank them in words and deeds on the other 364 days of the year.

Wedding anniversaries mean nothing if the other 364 days of the year, you have not shown your spouse you care about him.  Celebrate each other every day and show in your words and actions that you appreciate each other.

Don’t wait for Thanksgiving to give thanks; don’t wait for Christmas to send a card to family or friends.  There is no time like the present. Each and every day – celebrate who you are, celebrate your spouse, your parents, your family and your friends.  .

Personally, I vow to celebrate having life, having freedom, and the opportunity to choose every day to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
